What to Expect
PART A – THE TOPSIDE BRIEFING
Your TRY SCUBA begins with a thorough explanation of scuba equipment and the terms that divers use. We will discuss the basics of breathing underwater, diving safety rules, and you will even learn several of the hand signals that divers use to communicate underwater. Before you leave there will be plenty of time to ask and get answers to your questions about learning to dive.
PART B – THE POOL DIVE
This is where the fun really begins. Your instructor will help you gear-up and enter the water where you will experience the thrill of blowing bubbles and breathing underwater! There will be plenty of time for you to get comfortable with the equipment and find out what you can expect to see, hear, and feel as you descend into the underwater world. You will also have the opportunity to see what it is like to be a student in class. All too soon, it will be time for the pool dive to end. We hope you will leave convinced that you want to begin your dive training. There’s no obligation and no pressure. We know that sooner or later, once you have tried it, you will become a diver!
The SSI Try Scuba program is your introduction to the underwater world. This entry-level program gives you the opportunity to experience the underwater world, in a confined water setting. You will earn the SSI Try Scuba recognition rating.
