SSI Divemaster

This program is an introduction into the world of Dive Professionals. As a Divemaster you will be qualified to lead certified divers on a variety of scuba diving adventures. In addition, you can assist with both classroom and pool training under direct supervision of an SSI Instructor. As a certified SSI Divemaster you can:

• Give underwater tours to certified scuba divers

• Teach Snorkel Diving and issue Snorkel Diving certifications

• Assist active SSI Instructors in academics, pool and open water training under direct supervision

SSI Dive Control Specialist

Dive Control Specialists (DiveCon) combine the functions of Divemaster and Assistant Instructor. As a DiveCon, you can teach the Open Water Diver course classroom and pool sessions with indirect supervision. By assisting an active SSI Instructor during open water training, you can gain valuable experience which will prepare you for an Instructor Training Course (ITC). As a certified SSI Dive Control Specialist, you can perform the functions of a Divemaster and, in addition, you can:

• Lead and guide certified divers

• Assist SSI Instructors in the classroom, pool and open water

• Teach skills in the classroom and pool under indirect supervision of an SSI Instructor (except emergency skills)

• Teach the SSI Scuba Skills Update, Snorkeling and Try Scuba (pool only) programs, and lead pool parties

SSI Training Specialist

This upgrade rating permits Dive Control Specialists to conduct limited Specialty Course training for the following programs and issue certification independently:

• Boat Diving

• Computer Diving

• Digital Underwater Photography / Underwater Videography

• Perfect Buoyancy

• Underwater Navigation

• Training Specialists can also lead Choo Choo Diving & Aquatic Center in-country group trips

SSI Open Water Instructor

SSI Open Water Instructors learn how to develop confident and comfortable divers who will commit to the sport. During the Instructor Training Course, you will learn:

• How various industry stakeholders interact – manufacturers, media, agencies, retail, and travel

• How successful dive retailers and resorts operate

• The SSI Education System and Education Philosophy

• Techniques for teaching home study academics, pool and open water

• The legal aspects of teaching

• The basics of educational selling using SSI’s Customer Loyalty Cycle

As a certified Open Water Instructor, you can teach and issue certifications for:

• Indoor Diver

• Scuba Diver

• Open Water Diver & Junior Open Water Diver

• Advanced Adventurer

• Try Scuba, Try Scuba Diving & Scuba Skills Update

• Diver Stress & Rescue

• Nitrox Diver
